Ten years ago, I founded Waxman Strategies with a commitment to achieve a healthy world in which people, nature, and the common good flourish. I had several factors working in my favor from day one. This included lessons learned from my previous employers, a core group of fabulous clients, and a name – Waxman – synonymous with my father’s reputation as one of the most influential and effective members of Congress.

For over 40 years, Henry Waxman, my father, played a leading role enacting significant health, environmental, consumer protection, telecommunications, and other good government laws. Waxman Strategies wasn’t founded as a home for building on my father’s legacy, but I was incredibly grateful when my father joined the firm in 2015 and for the opportunity we’ve had to do so.

In the 10 years since our founding, we have worked on some of the most important issues facing our society. We’ve advanced health policies that drive more equitable access to quality and affordable health care. We’ve driven transformation needed to secure a zero-carbon future and advanced critical environmental justice initiatives. And we’ve accelerated bold innovations and tech solutions in the public interest.

As we look to the future, there are still so many challenges ahead. But I’m confident in our ability to effect tremendous change by meeting challenges head-on, navigating complexity, working across the aisle, building coalitions, and spending as much time as it takes to get it right.

We’ve grown a team from diverse backgrounds who bring a wealth of expertise and experience as policy specialists, inside-the-Beltway influencers, and media-savvy experts. Yet, their tenacity and unwavering commitment to take on complex issues and achieve measurable, lasting change are what sets them apart.

I am filled with gratitude for our team members, clients, partners, friends, and family who have made our success possible. And as we celebrate our anniversary through the end of the year, I look forward to introducing you to our team members, giving them an opportunity to share their passions and proudest accomplishments at the firm.
