2024 Fall Environmental Policy Practice Internship

Waxman Strategies, a mission-driven communications and policy consulting firm led by former Congressman Henry Waxman, is accepting applications for an Environmental Policy Intern during the fall of 2024 to support work on cutting edge policymaking focused on clean energy and solving the climate crisis. We’re looking for talented candidates with strong administrative, research, and writing skills who are passionate about working for progress on climate change.

Waxman Strategies uses advocacy, communications, and campaigns to shape policies, accelerate technology startups and products working in the public interest, advance causes, and build movements around the world.   

Our Environment Practice works with our clients to deliver transformational change on one of the biggest challenges of our time — climate change. At Waxman Strategies, we work with leading NGOs and clean energy technology providers to develop and implement pragmatic policy solutions with a focus on fighting for communities who are most impacted by climate change and the effects of fossil fuels.   

More on the position: 

We are looking for talented and highly organized candidates who can provide administrative support for our team, conduct strategic research, compile policy research, and monitor activities in Congress.   

You will be supporting work at the center of real-time policy development and implementation for tackling climate change. We work on behalf of leading environmental NGOs and clean energy technology developers on a wide range of issues varying from clean power production, environmental justice, industrial decarbonization, carbon management, decarbonizing transportation, electrification, negative emissions technologies such as direct air capture, healthy oceans and soils, curtailing deforestation, and more.  

  • Part-time applicants (15-20 hours per week) will be considered for a 3-month internship during the fall of 2024 (September 2nd – December 20). 
  • The internship can be conducted remotely, but interns are welcome to work from the office in Washington, D.C. and participate in in-person events if relocating is possible.  
  • This position is paid: Part-time three-month stipend is $7,500.00
