In a piece written for Health Affairs this week, Health Practice Managing Director Kristi Martin joins Jonathan Foley of Westcott Partners and Rob Shriver of IdeaCrew to discuss the Affordable Care Act’s Multi-State Plan Program, lessons learned from its demise and how we can use those lessons to inform discussion on the public option:
“We were part of the team that implemented the MSP Program at the OPM, representing both the agency leadership and programmatic staff. In this post, we briefly discuss the legislative compromise that created the MSP Program and offer lessons learned for policy makers considering options for expanding coverage, including public options, Medicare for All, and Medicare or Medicaid buy-in programs. “
