Iowans are Surprisingly Divided on the Renewable Fuel Standard. Here’s Our Analysis.
In the summer of 2019, a poll was conducted among likely voters and caucus-goers in the state of Iowa to learn more about the electorate’s understanding of and opinions about the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).
Waxman Strategies has compiled an explanatory memorandum to put these findings in context. Overall, the data shows that the RFS is weaker than it has been perceived over the last decade, failing to get majority support among Democrats and Independents. These voters also demonstrated an openness to new messaging, especially when that messaging spoke to the environmental impacts of policies supporting food-based biofuels.
