Melia is a Director of Communications at Waxman Strategies, where she helps manage all media relations strategy, pitching, and branding activities for the Waxman Strategies Environment Team.
Melia previously worked at Oceana, the world’s largest ocean conservation organization, where she oversaw the editorial, design, and press teams as the International Communications Manager. Before Oceana, she was a Marketing Specialist at National Geographic where she worked to promote educational large format films and placed them in international science museums and theaters.
Originally from Napa, Melia grew up working at the first Silver LEED certified winery in California. She was involved with her local chapter of the Sierra Club and spent weekends recruiting people to participate in invasive species removal parties and river cleanups.
She graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon where she majored in International Affairs with concentrations in Environmental Studies and Rhetoric and Media Studies.Our Team
