Ryan serves as a Senior Advisor to Waxman Strategies, with a focus on clean energy and climate.
Ryan previously led the Climate and Energy Practice at Fenton Communications and the Energy & Sustainability Practice at the Glover Park Group. His clients have included most of the leading brands and organizations in the clean energy and climate space, including GE Wind, the US Green Building Council, Climate Nexus, Iberdrola Renewables / Avangrid, WWF, Ceres, Carbon Tracker Initiative, Conservation International and The Solar Foundation.
He began his career in politics as Executive Director of the Kerry-Edwards Presidential Transition Planning Team. He has worked with some of the world’s largest clean energy companies and led communications and strategy work for some of the largest marine conservation successes of recent years, such as the creation of new national monuments and the adoption of better US fish management policies.
Ryan earned a master’s degree in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a B.A. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a former high school teacher and serves on the Board of Directors of several education-focused nonprofits.
