Who We Are: WAXMAN STRATEGIES is a progressive-minded public affairs firm led by former Congressman Henry Waxman, called “one of the most accomplished legislators of his or any era” by President Obama. Now out of Congress, Waxman heads the firm’s all-star team, which uses advocacy, communications and campaigns to help shape policies, advance causes and build movements.

Our work is primarily in the areas of health care, the environment, and technology, media and telecommunications. A sampling of our current clients include the National Association of Community Health Centers, California Association of Public Hospitals, 340B Health, National Wildlife Federation, the World Bank, TracFone, T-Mobile, Comcast, and American Association of Justice.

What We Need: We are looking for a talented, entrepreneurial leader to help direct and build our growing Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) practice. Candidates should have subject expertise and experience leading advocacy campaigns to advance TMT policies, organizations and companies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic leadership and manage all aspects of the TMT practice
  • Manage and implement multiple projects, empowering team members to deliver client success while ensuring profitability
  • Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities, including participating in new business pitches and drafting new business proposals
  • Cultivate relationships with Congressional leaders, the Administration, thought leaders and the media
  • Lead and mentor TMT team
  • Research and monitor clients’ business and industries to maintain a current knowledge base

Qualifications include:

  • At least 10 years of experience in TMT policy and advocacy
  • Successful experience in business development and client service
  • Significant experience in, and connections to, national TMT issues, organizations and policy makers
  • Ability to develop and deploy integrated campaigns that include advocacy and communications
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team to produce high-quality analytical, strategic and creative content
  • Experience managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines and ensuring top quality work
  • Highly collaborative leadership style
  • Passion for working to make the world a better place
